Kristina Knipe

Kristina Knipe is an artist and educator who makes her home between Brooklyn and New Orleans. Employing photography, video, and installation, Knipe creates bodies of work that reflect on intimacy, healing, and community. With the support of the Film Photo Award grant Knipe will continue working on Talisman, an intimate photographic series on the construction of identity through mythology in New Orleans queer communities. This work examines the material and visual excess created from decadences, masquerades, and healing practice as it relates to the body and identity. With this film award, she will be documenting these spaces before they're transformed by rising housing costs and environmental precarity.
